How do you make custom weapons?

Hi there! I have been trying to make a pistol that shoots fireballs but I can't figure it out it just shoots nothing!

Can someone tell me how to make weapons?

What kind of fireballs? Imp fireballs? Open up the weapon_pistol.def file and find this
