Most significant features of the 23rd Century Warfare Modification :

- Returning to the original concept of idtech 4 (unified light and shadowing). In 23rd Century Warfare every surface is lit dynamically on a per-pixel basis. All characters, vehicles, structures and even landscapes react dynamically correct to any lights, be it the sunlight, the explosionlights of grenade/rocket impacts or simply gun muzzleflashlights from any weapon discharged during combat.

- Heavy gamedesign and balance tweaks to make the game generally more fun to play, introducing new gametypes, new units and a completely reworked damage system making players feel more comfortable with any class or vehicle they choose to play with.

- Optimizing the game for full 32 player matches at vast uniquely created battlefields where players will join huge fights experiencing combat like never before.

Unfortunately I have been struck by something that turns out to be what people refer to as "cebv/cfs" (Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) which basically cuts down my work capacity down to less than 10%.

Since no prognosis can be made when and if at all I will recover I am currently evaluating about how to proceed with all my current projects that are in progress including 23rd_c_w....

Options are to either freeze the project as it is right now or to continue work as project lead dividing up the workload to other capable community members. Since I pretty much work alone on this project I will first have to see if there are enough talented people willing to help out before deciding what will happen with 23rd_c_w.

The mod looks very good.
For the mech, your texture looks blurry at some points, add few extra polygons to avoid that.

Why don't you do the next D3 contest? :D

I think it looks fantastic.

One comment which did sort of strike me:

The tank shouldn't be able to go from forward to backward in an instant, if possible I'd tweak it to reflect the mass switching from one to the other direction, half a second would be good for a stop and add greatly to the immersion.

Hi!

The water textures looks really good, but you've removed the soft blending between water and ground that ETQW original water had?

About the lagoon, i don't really know, it looks so empty... the "white bloomy skybox" add a lot to this feel of "nothing in nowhere". anyway, i loved the boat ride.

The Mech movie looks cool. One more reality check though; shouldn't the cockpit, and in fact the entire upper section, be stationary instead of bobbing around all the time? I hate to be the one driving that thing; no aim and really bad nausea if you ask me! :wink:

Well as a matter of fact pretty much all the progress showcased in this thread here was created while being already seriously affected by this desease....

I am a hardheaded bastard by nature but I realized that I have to switch down a gear or two in order to create suitable ground conditions for a recovery....

Btw... running around in lost facility and now being able to quickly spawn in some vehicles is just plain cool :D

After quite some confusion and delays about the 23rd Century Warfare build release here is a bit of a description on the project's current status and future roadmap (this list is to be updated upon advancing dev-progress):

Completed features:
-map etqw_highlands
-map etqw_lagoon
-map etqw_tundra
-map etqw_delta
-on impact bleeding soldiers
-new realistic and visual ballistic enhancement
-new realistic weapon spread behaviour
-new realistic damage and health values for all projectiles, vehicles and players
-new weapon sounds
-unfied light and shadowing for every surface
-interactive light emmision for all weapon discharges and impacts

Roadmap for Release 1:
-finalize the GDF mech unit
-finalize the map etqw_lostfacility
-add a couple of more new and exciting maps
-add a new yet not announced gametype

Expected time of Release: Spring/Summer 2010

And for the impatient folks, here is a short "Tracer Teaser" movie
