Mod doesnt seem to install on windows 2K and I was really looking forward to playing your mod aswell :(

The installer says it wont install on "operating systems older than windows xp" which really sucks. Anyone know how to extract files from an MSI file without using it as an installer ?

go to run command in windows then enter the following:

msiexec /a c:\path_to_installer\556mmfmj_beta_v043_installer.msi

You know what I've been doing? Running around the maps solo, picking up all the weapons and ammo and then spawning a ton of zombies. Especially in the hangar level it was like I was playing a videogame version of Dawn of the Dead or something.

hey im havin trouble gettin it started :(
whenever i try and start it it get to the sceen where it says loading game and all that jazz and the bottom then closes down and the console thing says ...

It would be nice to get a little bit more info about your system and doom³ installation.....

....from what I can see now is that using the NV10 renderSystem isn't exactly what you want when playing this mod.....

The official system requirenments for this mod are:

2 Ghz CPU
512 MB RAM
directx 9 compatible graphics card

yeah from what i can pick off the top of my head im pretty sure i meet those rewuirments. i think its that DLL poop thats screwin it up tho, but sure but yeah w/e ill have to check out all my specs to see if they meet everything. well thnx for the help

Cannot be installed on systems earlier than XP...

I want to praise this mod... the screenshots look great and 8 devils is a cool dude. But this is BAD and I refuse to mess with anything that must have the constantly updating eye-candy crap which calls itself XP.

I am still not back from my timeout but am browsing the forums from time to time...... the first thing I will do when I get back is releasing a zipped version of the mod so that also non XP users will be able to play it.....

to the ppl with the dll erros: I think you guys are using the wrong executable... make sure to run the mod from the "556mmfmj.exe"

Ya i had that error but all you have to do is make sure you install it in your Doom 3 di and run it with the shortcut

5.56mm FMJ BETA 0.44 RELEASED !!! (fully 1.3 compatible)

We did it !!! With the help of Use_Less we were able to finally port the FMJ mod to version 1.3 ........

Although the new bloomshader runs a bit slower it improves the HDR-rish look alot and makes the Mod an even better experience......

A dedicated server shortcut is now included to make hosting FMJ games as easy as click and play.....

So all there is left to say is ......HAPPY FRAGGING!!!!

IMPORTANT ISSUES:

1. "client unkown to auth" error message when connecting to a 556mmfmj-server:

If you get such an error message on connect, simply delete your "doomkey" file located in your "base" and "556mmfmj" folder, reconnect to the server and reenter your cd key on demand..... I don't know why this happens but that procedure solves the problem......

2. Since this beta version is quite hardware hungry reducing the graphic settings might be a way to increase the FPS on older pc systems....

3. To run a dedicated server simply run the "5.56mm FMJ Mod Dedicated Server" shortcut

INSTALLATION

Once you downloaded the rar file, unrar it and run the file "556mmfmj_installer_beta_v044.msi". Make sure to install the mod to your Doom³ Folder so point to it (Example C:\games\Doom³)..Once the installation is complete, a shortcut called "5.56mm FMJ Mod" is created on your desktop......

Double click the shortcut and play..........

GAMEPLAY

"desert_plateau":

This map scenario takes place on a small mountain plateau where each side spawns inside an aged bunker. Make sure to not let the enemy infiltrate your base.... oh and take a look at the top of the plateau... you might like what you find there ;) The huge trees give excellent cover in case you get ambushed from an unknown direction......

"desert_delta":

This map scenario takes place in a very hot and dry desert valley where each side spawns inside an abandoned desert village. There are several ways to reach the enemy base and plenty of space for hot desert fights.... The desert trees are smaller than the plateau trees but still serve well for cover.... also the village itself leaves plenty of possibilities open to ambush the enemy from a position he doesn't expect ;)

"desert_valley_night":

This map scenario is basically the same setup as the "desert_delta" but takes place during the night... so stealth tactics get even more important since the enemy can see your gunfire from the far distance..... It is curious how the village and landscape changes its flair while everything lights up almost surreal in the moonlight...... ;)

"ammo_docks":
This map scenario takes place in a huge military harbour where ships in the background are busy with loading and unloading their cargo. Once in a while an F-16 Fighter Jet is flying over the whole scenario trying to recon the area for the reported intruders.... This map offers excellent close combat fighting where almost everything in the harbour serves as cover, from the containers to the cargo boxes.....

Features

- 6 different weapons, 3 per side
- Realistic bullet-ballistic (real modelled projectiles are fired and react physically correct while getting dragged down
by gravity as they proceed flying through the landscape)
- Headshots that are deadly with any weapon from any distance
- Really huge outdoor environments that are lit with a global lighting system
- 6 players (3vs3) support (can be increased if necessary)
- A BloomShader which creates a breathtaking HDR like look and makes the Landscaps look more realistic

The Idea Behind it:

I always wanted to create a shooter that combines the awesome looking graphics of Doom³ with a more tactical game play. I hope I will succeed in melting those two things together and enrich the Doom3Community with a Mod that hopefully will find his lovers ;)

DoomMarine is now mirroring FMJ -- Both the installer and non-installer versions are available for download.
