There is a 2:47 clip taken from a TV documentary floating around the web.

I wont post screens or links, but it's just plain awsome!

- When monsters desintegrate, only the biological part will, the mechanical parts stay in place.
- Very very cool warping effects from some weapons
- Stylish dropships
- Looking through glass distorts the view a little
- Environments are breathtaking!
- The attention paid to detail is perfect
- The scripted sequenzes, like it or not - are just cool! Don't know whether I want to play Doom3 or watch Doom3...
- There's a train sequence - don't know whether the light of the train is HDRI, doubt it, but looks close to it!
- Nice small 4 pedal maintainance bots walk around
- Plasmagun looks realistic (weapon model) and the effects are wow
- The beloved fatty can hold a wrench to hit us harder (well not "can" but one variety holds it)
- Lost Souls in motion are anything but edgy headed - forget about the stills
- Hellknight shoots plasma whatever balls at you, just as he should
- The BFG is a monster of a gun (assuming it was the BFG I saw)
- Trites are pretty small
- Everything looks perfect, everything

The trailer on the revised doom3.com website - is that the same as the trailers we've seen before ?
Just want to know, as my bandwidth sucks today and it's taking a mighty long time to download.
BTW, the interviews on the site are pretty cool, if a little short - for me, specifically the Tim Willits section where he's working in radiant. I'd like to see more of that type of thing.

Judging by that video, Doom3 will make Far Cry look rather, hmmm, dated ?

Totally amazing and considering that's a very compressed video at 24fps and 320x240, it still looks better than Far Cry ingame ! :)

hmm in the vidio tim willits say they're using hight dynamic range lightning...

how would be an exterior rendered in that technology? great technology! let's see how it's the gameplay! in wich part of the vidio do you found that hting that looking throught a glass distrotion thing? there is something else that looks like a trite.. remember that part where there is a UAC soldier that points a diurection for you, well there is another shot where it seems the smae uac soldier and a 4 foot thing passes infront of him. it's not an enemy because the soldier don't shot it. it maybe a friendly sentry?


i supose that doctor it's the cult leader? doctor btruger or whatever it's spelled? at least he looks eeeeviiil! :twisted:

another unanswerable question pops me to the head.. why there are imps insoide glass tubes? that means UAC has opened hell's door other times? or maybe they send UAC marine squads in order to capture demons to create biological weapons (Like in ALIEN saga Wayland Yutani do) ? there si a part of a vido where there is a portal opened, a marien comes out and then two hellknights... maybe that's the exact point where all hell breaks loose? humm it could be scare to have to confront two hellknights at the beggining of the action!

there are some effects that i can't oimagine how are done... when the archvile teleports (waaah! archvile rocks!) he seems to have some lightning effects from mhis hands.. now lightnings arn0t a sprite. so it can't be particles. so how may be done? maybe htere is an option to create lightnings between two bones?

it sems archvile have the capcity to spawn more creatures...

I guess the zombie animation we all know where he wakes form the bed.. maybe it's not a bed. maybe its a authopsy table like the ones that appear in the vidio (at least it seems an authopsy table) htose are the same as the firs screenshot everpublished of thechainsaw, remember that shot with the zombie holding the chainsaw? i think those tables are that ones, nad maybe the zombie animation is prepared for thoise tables..

you're not really alone, you find other UAC guys on your side. i wonder how wilol be the AI of NPC's..

there are some reeally dark shots. some of them aren't incomprensible. there is a moment where the marine opens door nad a creature (that creature that looks like Gollum) apears. biut behind the door hell sems to be entred in the room.. well all imcan see is red and more red...

all the monsters seems to have ragdoll physyics now, i wonder how ragdoll physics will handle the dissapear effect of the biological parts as bna said.. i wonder if player blocks the ragdoll bodies. i hope he don't so like other games. because sometimes in the alpha if you aply ragdoll to all enemies sometimes you can go throught a corrideors because its full of zombie corpses! and thats a little bit anoying sometimes. other times player blocking the ragdoll phyisics can be fun! i hope that could be a key. "player blocks tthat ragdoll or not".. it's a shame we haven't seen yet that so talked glass breaking eefect. id members said it was so cool and carmack said it was a stupidity... we have seen brocken glass or glass in correct state but never breaking glass... maybe they cut that option.. or didn0t use it in the game but it stills in the engine?

hmm the aprt of the zombie with the wrench. seme sto be set in the same place thet everybody know s form doom.. it semes o be set in the bathroom, if thats the same place as in the alpha it has changed... i can't see i well. but if thats the same place and the zombie it's the same as the one in the alpha. well maybe he isn'0t holding a wrench maybe.. a bone. or some corpse part? :l

As far as I can understand him he only says they're using dynamic lighting.
HDRI would be great, but I doubt it.

hmm i thought he said taht. the truth is that the vidio's audio is really bad. pluss it seems to have the volume pulled up so te quylity is horrible...

why ide has put so o0ld sctreenshots in his ad campaign? why they don't show the actual stsate of the game!? they keep all thoise old shots that don't make ny justice to the game! htey should create more vidios! something like the thing valve did. bink vidios with great quality showing what d3 is capable of! that would be great!

Because id is about making good games, not good hype. While I loved Half-Life, will certainly love Half-Life 2, I think Valve made a few mistakes with their ad campaigns. I'd rather have a solid, polished product sooner, instead of a slew of up-to-date content-hype campaigns.

id very rarely releases showcase content. Been that way since Doom I. In fact, I think we've had more hype-related releases for D3 than for their other games, (Q3A, for example)... of course, with Q3A, we did have the regular .plan updates to drool over and a q3test that helped reduce fanboy fevers a bit before the game was in our hands.

Although some Doom3 BINKs would be nice....

well. what i'm saying is that all the screenshots released could be tkaen from ythe alpha we have. there aren't great changes in a screen but a vidio.. it all changes!seing the screens you could think. well it hasn't changed that much! but if you see the vidio you understant that the alpha is so so so old! it's nothing to be compared with the final version! and if the screens show a stage of the game comaprable of the stage of the alpha.. well the screens don't make justice to the final game but to the alpha!

for example in screens imps seem edgy. in the game no on could eversay its edgy becouse of the movement...

and tellme something, what are the screenshots for?

i mthink screens are only to sell.. screens are the ads in the gamming industry, so present your product in the best conditonts don't you think?

screens aren't meant to please the fans... are ads!

and there is anothe rthing, i don't think the ad campaing of valve was so bad, even i think it's better than the one from ID! everybody is cursing valve for hyping people.. well valve only showed the e3 vids, and onbly claimed for two dates... september 2003 and august 2004 all other dates where given by internet ressllers, gaming mags, nad other publications. but never where oficial!

now everybody saw nthe vids and thought the game would be great to be buyed! so the vids worked for what were inteded for.. for selling purposes!

so i will always think a vid is n100 thimes better thatn 100 shots!

The problem with the media these days is you never really know whether something is released then held back to cause hype, whether it's a leak or whether it's just a fuck-up.

You have seen the Xbox shotgun changing the match the PC shotgun, it's just the general public hasn't seen any new PC content for a while.

There are also prophets running around swearing it's an Xbox movie they've shown on G4 which it is not.
